Since you're gonna start a romance advice column I'd like to take advantage of this. What do you do when you notice that a guy you've recently become friends with starts to fall in love with him, but you don't want to hurt him because he's been hurt enough already?
Okay, I am going to assume that
“a guy you’ve recently become friends with starts to fall in love with him”
means “a guy you’ve recently become friends with starts to fall in love with YOU”
Because otherwise the guy is in love with himself, which may be a problem, but it is not your problem.
In this situation there is not much you can do. Ignore his romantic feelings for you actively and continue as you were unless he brings it up. You cannot reject him if he doesn’t make a move, though. Otherwise it will go like this:
You: If you were thinking of asking me out . , .
Him: Yes?
You: Don’t.
