Oh my God. This is so cute. And if you’ve read I Want My Hat Back it is especially genius, but if not, it is still genius and so cute. And maybe made me cry. A little. Even I have feels sometimes.

Taking a break briefly from the tarot card project, I asked Cassandra Jean to draw the four seasons as the four Shadowhunter series I have either written or planned right now — The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, the Dark Artifices, and The Mysterious TLH.

So Cassandra Jean has finished the complete Shadowhunter Tarot, so for the next … seventy-something days I’ll be posting a card a day in order, from the first card to the last. Some will be under spoiler cuts; some you’ll have seen before — I’ll explain why each character has the card they have.

I was going to post a card a day but I am several days behind, so these three cards go up together since they fit together thematically.

Will gets the Hanged Man which symbolizes someone caught in a bad situation between impossible choices.

Jem gets Temperance, which means balance, and can mean the blending of opposites.

And Tessa gets the Star, which is an otherworldly card, symbolizing magic. It also symbolizes love, vulnerability and hope.

These cards have been posted before but it’s interesting to reevaluate them again in the light of Clockwork Princess, thank you Cassandra Jean!

If there is a life after this one, let me meet you in it.

I was feeling mreepy, so Cassandra Jean drew me some fanart. It’s rather sad, but I was needing catharsis — I know I’ve talked about catharsis on this blog before, about why there is a pleasure in books that make us weep. Why a good cry is called a good cry.

Anyway, CJ has a great talent for capturing emotion in the line of a hand, or the curve of a drawn smile. I have that admiration for her art that you have for something you could never ever do yourself. And she’s good at making me cry. :)

This isn’t a scene I plan to write, or even could write. It doesn’t take place in the pages of a book. It concerns things I don’t even pretend I know about (the existence of God?) It’s a piece of fantasy involving the mortal characters of The Infernal Devices. It could be a dream of Jem’s. It could be a dream of Will’s. I’d like to think it’s a shared dream.

An AU ending perhaps everyone can enjoy. Sadly there was no gay marriage in Victorian England but I enjoy Cassandra Jean’s depiction of a same-sex Shadowhunter wedding, and Charlotte attempting to bop Will and Jem with the bouquet. And how she solved the wedding attire problem (one of you gets to wear black with gold, and the other one gets to wear gold with black!)

And of course Magnus is there because … Magnus.

Or I should stop bothering Cassandra Jean late at night. :D

I was saving the Jem and Tessa one because it is VERY SPOILERY. It doesn’t ONLY spoil events in Clockwork Princess, it spoils events in future as yet unwritten books.
